Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
